Index fingers pecking on my mother's olive-green typewriter from her journalism days, I began writing for a community paper while still in high school. (My typing hasn't improved. Thankfully, my writing has.)
My first full-time job was in radio. A lousy d.j.,
the ability to write and produce effective radio spots secured my place in the business. During this time, I was also a stringer for several Chicago-area newspapers.
Seeking new challenges, I moved into advertising and public relations—as a writer, account supervisor and vice president at several advertising agencies. Working in so many disciplines, it was only natural that I would embrace the benefits of integrated marketing communications. Truly, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
I had the great fortune of gaining a seven-year marketing education when I was partner at a Madison, Wisconsin ad agency. There, I became inspired by the challenge of leveraging audience insights and research to give focus to strategic marketing communications.
Next, I spent three years as a health writer, an industry that poses fascinating communication challenges. While I held this position, I also wrote a marketing column for Corporate Report Wisconsin.
I've learned a lot and accomplished a lot in my careers. I now offer the benefits of that experience to you. Questions? Shoot me an email at email@example.com
